Tension Corporation Helps Project Warmth Provide Comfort for Those in Need

Kansas City, Mo. – Sunday, Dec. 4, marks The Kansas City Star Contribution Envelope Drive. A postage-paid donation envelope made possible by Tension will appear in The Kansas City Star that day, and contributors may use the envelopes to send in donations in support of Project Warmth’s 2016 campaign.

Project Warmth is an initiative to collect new and gently used coats, blankets and cash donations to help cover utility bills for those in need in the Kansas City community during the cold winter months. This year marks Project Warmth’s 34th year in their efforts to ensure lives are not lost due to the extreme temperatures.  The Kansas City Star and KCTV5, in conjunction with Salvation Army and Mid-America Assistance Coalition, have partnered with Tension over the years to support Project Warmth.

Tension has raised more than $4 million over the years in their 34-year support of Project Warmth by providing the postage-paid donation envelopes and other activities. Andrew Weed, Tension’s Vice President of Strategic Sales, has lead Tension’s involvement with Project Warmth for the past 28 years.

“Project Warmth is a great opportunity for all of us to provide assistance to the many people in our metropolitan area who need the most basic help – to dress warmly and to provide utility assistance to those who can’t pay their heating bills.  Over the past 34 years, Tension Associates have proudly donated millions of envelopes that have helped collect cash donations for the people who need it the most,” said Weed.

In November, Project Warmth announced drop locations for new and gently used coats, blankets, hats, gloves and scarves throughout the Kansas City community. Several businesses, including Culver’s in Overland Park, have joined forces to help collect supplies. Culver’s has even offered to donate a percentage of their sales to Project Warmth.

There are a number of ways to help Project Warmth through donation and volunteer opportunities. To learn more, visit https://centralusa.salvationarmy.org/mokan/project-warmth/
