Bert Berkley Receives Adele Hall Spirit of Caring Award
From United Way of Greater Kansas City

Kansas City, Mo. – Bert Berkley, Tension Corporation Chairman of the Board, recently received the Adele Hall Spirit of Caring Award, presented by the United Way of Greater Kansas City. The award honors individuals who exemplify the extraordinary compassion and selflessness of the late Adele Hall, philanthropist and wife of Hallmark Chairman Donald J. Hall.

Throughout the past half-century, Berkley has worked diligently to make a difference in the Kansas City community and envelope industry. His philanthropy and leadership can be seen in countless charitable endeavors, including his support for the United Way. Berkley served in leadership roles at various nonprofit and industry-related organizations, including:

  • Envelope Manufacturers Association, President
  • LINC (Local Investment Commission), Founder
  • Civic Council of Greater Kansas City, Chairman
  • Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, Chairman
  • UMKC Board of Trustees, Chair
  • Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation’s Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, Board Member
  • Flexographic Technical Association, Board Member
  • Turn the Page KC, Board Member

Berkley has also been a longtime member of the United Way’s Tocqueville Society, which brings together more than 400 of Kansas City’s most trusted and influential leaders to build a stronger community. In 2008, he co-authored the book, “Giving Back: Connecting You, Business and Community.” The book highlights the importance of volunteerism and involvement with charitable endeavors.
